Peter began work in the Financial Services business in 1983. He received his education from the American College receiving three designations which shows his commitment to education, the industry and his clients. The designations are ChFC® (Chartered Financial Consultant), CASL® (Chartered Advisor for Senior Living) and CLU® (Chartered Life Underwriter). Only 3% of all advisors have these three designations.*
Peter followed in the footsteps of his father, Duane C. Magnuson who started in the investment field in 1969. He and his father had the opportunity to work together for 10 years before the Senior Mr. Magnuson retired in 2000. The knowledge passed on from father to son was a tremendous gift that has proved to be invaluable.
Peter sacrificed from the very beginning to maintain being independent based on his father’s advice. As an independent advisor, they felt he was and is able to serve his clients in a manner tailored to their needs without having to meet quotas or push specific products.
Peter was a Senior Vice President with MSM Marketing in New York and traveled throughout the state of Florida meeting with advisors and their clients. In 1990, he joined the independent arm of Raymond James as a Financial Advisor and later transitioned to Harbor Financial Services in 2005 in that same role. Mr. Magnuson started Magnuson Financial 1984 as an “Independent Financial Advisory Firm”.
Born in Lapeer, Michigan, Peter married his college sweetheart, TJ, in 1983. Together they have two children: a son, Christopher, married to Melissa with grandchild Tobias and daughter, Cassandra. Peter enjoys teaching and has been a featured speaker at educational events regarding financial matters. He previously hosted a radio show called the Sarasota Financial News and was a frequent host on the cable TV program called Florida Bonds. Peter has won numerous public speaking awards through his affiliation with Toastmasters International. He has served as Deacon and then Elder in the PCA church for many years where he attended for 35 years. He enjoys playing basketball, bicycling, running, kayaking, gardening and camping. His interests include Biblical studies, mentoring and loving his family well. His wife TJ is an avid photographer and teaches how to best use personal technology devices to improve our lives.
